Hillary Clinton Reminds America That Evangelicals Warned that Donald Trump is a Scam

Just hours before evangelical leader Jerry Falwell Jr is expected to speak at the RNC, the Clinton campaign reminded people today that evangelical leaders warned that Donald Trump was a scam.

Citing moral duty, the most popular evangelical website in the United States took a brave, prescient stand against Donald Trump back in February, saying they “urge our readers to back away” from the Republican nominee.

The editors at the Christian Post wrote that they have not previously taken a position on a political candidate, but they “are making an exception because Trump is exceptionally bad and claims to speak for and represent the interests of evangelicals.”

Here are a few of the very sobering reasons they offered their readers.

Donald Trump doesn’t represent evangelicals and would be dangerous:

As the most popular evangelical news website in the United States and the world, we feel compelled by our moral responsibility to our readers to make clear that Donald Trump does not represent the interests of evangelicals and would be a dangerous leader for our country.

Donald Trump claims to be a Christian but:

Trump claims to be a Christian, yet says he has never asked for forgiveness.

Trump doesn’t repent, and his “words and actions do not demonstrate the ‘fruit of the spirit.'”

Trump doesn’t ask forgiveness for his sins and continues to demean people:

Trump is a misogynist and philanderer. He demeans women and minorities. His preferred forms of communication are insults, obscenities and untruths. While Christians have been guilty of all of these, we, unlike Trump, acknowledge our sins, ask for forgiveness and seek restitution with the aid of the Holy Spirit and our community of believers.

They called the Klan evil and pointed to Trump’s reluctance to disavow David Duke:

On Sunday, Trump’s apparent reluctance to disavow David Duke until late in the day was extremely distasteful. The Ku Klux Klan is an evil, unholy movement representing the worst of America. Anyone who will not immediately denounce their support is unfit to be president.

Watch out for Trump:

Trump, an admirer of Vladimir Putin and other dictatorial leaders, may claim to be your friend and protector now, but as his history indicates, without your full support he will turn on you, and use whatever power is within his means to punish you.

What the Christian Post knew back in February has proven to be truer than they could have imagined now that this country’s worst nightmare is coming true.

Their editorial demonstrates is that all Americans must join together to stop Donald Trump. This is not about ideology. This is about Donald Trump’s dangerous temperament. This is about Donald Trump’s divisive rhetoric, troubling connections to Putin, ignorance, and most of all his narcissistic belief that he is much more capable than he really is.

The idea of Donald Trump with the red button is too distressing to focus on, and there won’t be anyone to stop him. Republicans are fooling themselves that Trump won’t want to govern so he will be easily controlled by Pence, their puppeteer. But what they don’t see is Donald Trump doesn’t want to do the work, but he will grab all of the power and more. There won’t be anyone who can stop him.
