Trump’s Lame Response to Obama: America ‘Does Not Feel Great Already’

Last updated on July 18th, 2023 at 11:23 am

President Barack Obama took his turn at the podium of the Democratic National Convention Wednesday night and delivered a scathing beat down of all things Trump. He made the case for America being already great.

He said ‘America is already great’ and ‘We don’t look to be ruled.” He introduced Hillary Clinton has a leader who has “real plans.” Trump had to be fuming watching and listening, but the best he could manage in return was this tweet :

I guess we missed the part where Donald Trump – or any Republican – started to care about the Middle Class, let alone people trying to survive on the starvation wages Republicans push. Trump says, “I have a big heart” but what he has is a big mouth.

Joe Biden had already given an answer to Trump’s claims at the DNC last night:

“He’s trying to tell us he cares about the middle class. Give me a break. That’s a bunch of malarkey.”

President Obama followed that up with a question of his own:

“Does anyone really believe that a guy who’s spent his 70 years on this Earth showing no regard for working people is suddenly going to be your champion?”

The truth of it is, Americans’ economic woes are due to Republican lawmaking. Having created the economic disaster that was 2008, they resisted every effort by President Obama to lift us out of that disaster and thrust us into a new one.

The history of the Republican Party shows that it does not believe in helping the less fortunate; it does not subscribe to safety nets and to feeding the babies they insist be born. They don’t believe in a minimum wage, let alone a living wage, and Trump himself has said he thinks American workers are paid too much.

You surely remember back in November of last year when he told Morning Joe,

“We have to become competitive with the world. Our taxes are too high, our wages are too high. Everything is too high. We have to compete with other countries.”

Biden’s answer then was a simple question:

“All this stuff coming from Trump, you know, American workers are getting paid too much? Where the hell does he live? Well, I know where he lives. But I’m serious, think about it.”

We also know where Trump lives. And it isn’t in reality and it isn’t on minimum wage.
