If there’s anyone left in the United States who doesn’t understand the depth of hate going on at the Republican nominee Donald Trump’s rallies, they need to watch this and understand that it’s not a one-off and no, it’s not normal.
The New York Times put out a chilling video of Trump supporters complied from their time on the trail covering Trump. Things like “Kill her!” “F*ck those dirty beaners!” “Trump that bitch!” and “Build a wall — kill them all!” are common place enough to warrant remarking on.
Watch here, warning: It’s not safe for work, family or people who are offended by hate language:
Put together by Erica Berenstein, Nick Corasaniti and Ashley Parker, the video is a compilation of their time following Trump rallies over the past year.
The reporters wrote that they witnessed “so many provocations and heated confrontations at them that the cumulative effect can be numbing: A sharp sting that quickly dulls from repetition.”
They remark that this is a pattern not seen in connection with any other recent political candidate in any party and that’s what makes it important, “But what struck us was the frequency with which some Trump supporters use coarse, vitriolic, even violent language — in the epithets they shout and chant, the signs they carry, the T-shirts they wear — a pattern not seen in connection with any other recent political candidate, in any party.”
They also wrote that not all Trump supporters are like this, but the problem is that even the people who aren’t joining in are not condemning the hate. They will yell at a protester but not yell at a supporter who is saying hateful things.
Meanwhile Republicans are only now beginning to consider Trump’s toxicity, and that is only due to the fact that he looks sure to lose the election and create a down ticket bloodbath.
A party of morals and values would have long ago called out what you can see with your own eyes in this video. This is not normal, it’s not okay, and it is destroying the fabric of this nation.
