Jeb’s Son Backs Trump Though He’s ‘A Bitter Pill to Swallow’

The Bush clan has stood steadfast against Trump. Both of the last two Republican presidents, George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush, skipped the Republican National Convention and Jeb Bush has also declined to endorse him.

There has been a break in the ranks, however. The Texas Tribune reports that 2016 Texas Victory Chair and Land Commissioner George P. Bush, 40, son of “low energy” Jeb! now says Republicans have to stop Hillary, that “You get back up, you help the man that won.”

Even if that man Donald Trump.

“From Team Bush, it’s a bitter pill to swallow, but you know what? You get back up and you help the man that won, and you make sure that we stop Hillary Clinton.”

Bush is swimming against an increasingly strong current against Trump, as Republicans continue to announce they will vote Clinton in November. The move is further indication of the yawning division within the Republican Party.

It has been argued that Trump invokes the “fight or flight” response in crowds (and has shown it himself in fleeing the Fox News debate) but the same is true of Republican pundits and politicians (even white voters), who either double-down on the hate in Trump’s behalf or run the other way.
