During his rally in Ft. Myers, FL, Trump said, “You can’t have vetting if you don’t look at ideology, and Hillary Clinton refuses to consider an applicant’s worldview, and thus their likelihood of being recruiting into the terror cause at some later date, which is going to happen in many cases. This isn’t just a matter of terrorism, this is also really a question of quality of life. We want to make sure that we are only admitting people into our country who love our country. We want them to love our country.”

Trump is suggesting that the US bring back the same type of ideology test that was used during McCarthy era, and were found to be unconstitutional. What Trump wants to do is not constitutional, because it brings up a wide variety of questions.

Who designs the ideology test? Who will decide what defines love for the United States? An ideology test used against only Muslims seeking to enter the United States would be discriminatory.

Even if Trump could somehow find a way to implement an ideology test that would pass constitutional scrutiny, the biggest practical problem is that his test won’t work. Terrorists lie. No potential terrorist will tell the truth on an ideology test.

Trump’s childlike solutions to national security lack common sense and would trample on the Constitution.

Donald Trump is telling voters that he intends to trash the Constitution if elected. He is making his intentions clear, and those who value our Constitution have 50 days to stop him.
