After Lester Holt had asked Trump about releasing his tax returns, Trump went into his usual song and dance about being audited. Holt pointed out that the IRS says there is nothing stopping him from releasing his tax returns. Trump went continued to dance.
Clinton jumped in and said, “You’ve gotta ask yourself why won’t he release his tax returns, and I think there are maybe a couple of reasons. First, maybe he’s not as rich as he says he is. Second, maybe he’s not as charitable as he claims to be. Third, we don’t know all of his business dealings, but we have learned through investigative reporting that he owes about $650 million to Wall Street and foreign banks, or maybe he doesn’t want the American people to know that he’s paid nothing in federal taxes.”
The conversation turned to Trump’s business dealings. The Republican nominee got very defensive, and actually defended not paying the people who worked for him.
Donald Trump tried to change the conversation to Clinton’s emails, but he spent minutes getting hammered by her for his business dealings and not releasing his tax returns.
Trump has had a bad debate. He is unfocused and no match for the skills of Hillary Clinton.
