By turning a blind eye away from the real issue, Priebus sent a loud and clear message that the Republican Party will not be dumping Donald Trump. They will try to frame the tape as Trump using inappropriate language towards women while ignoring the actions that Trump was bragging about.

There was no mention in Priebus’s statement about Trump’s attempted adultery with a married woman. The RNC chair did not mention how Trump bragged about grabbing women by their private parts and getting away with it because he was a celebrity.

The message from this statement is clear. The Trump Republican Party is the same party as Todd Akin’s legitimate rape, and Mitt Romney’s “binders full of women.” Priebus could have taken a real stand against Trump. Instead, he issued a statement that sounds tough while avoiding the real issue, which is exactly the kind of behavior that got them Donald Trump as their presidential nominee.
