One peaceful anti-Trump protest on the campus of Ohio State University quickly turned violent on Monday night when Donald Trump supporter shoved a protester down a flight of stairs while he was delivering a speech to the crowd.

After pushing the man, a brief scuffle broke out between the Trump supporter and another protester, but it was quickly broken up by other demonstrators. The police arrived seconds later and escorted the man out of the building.

According to The Lantern, the victim of the assault has been identified as Tim Joseph. The aggressor has not yet been named, but the college news publication reports that he was “arrested and placed under indefinite suspension from Ohio State.”
The protest at OSU is only one in a series of national demonstrations that continue to take place in the aftermath of Trump’s stunning electoral victory over Hillary Clinton in last week’s presidential election.
The combination of widespread fear that Trump will keep his dangerous campaign promises, coupled with the fact that Clinton is on pace to win the popular vote by roughly 2 million votes, has set the stage for massive nationwide protests and even a petition signed by over 4 million people urging the Electoral College to choose the former Secretary of State when the electors vote next month.
The last week has also seen an uptick in hate crimes taking place all across the country, from schools to workplaces, where minority groups have been targeted by those who are emboldened by Trump’s victory and think this type of behavior is now acceptable.
It’s safe to say that the past week has not been one of America’s finest moments.
