In Wisconsin, the latest stop on Donald Trump’s victory tour, the crowd showed their distaste for Republican Speaker of the House and Trump sellout Paul Ryan by showering him with boos after the president-elect mentioned him in his speech.

Trump, in normal form, made the moment worse, saying, “I’ve come to appreciate him, Speaker Paul Ryan … Honestly, he’s like a fine wine. Every day goes by, I get to appreciate his genius more and more. Now, if he ever goes against me, I’m not going to say that, okay?”
The president-elect also told Ryan in his speech that he was committed to building a wall on the southern border.
“We’re going to build the wall, Paul!” Trump said to applause.
Earlier in the month, though, Ryan said that the United States will not, in fact, construct a wall along the entire U.S.-Mexico border.
The moment came shortly after Ryan himself was at the podium. During the speaker’s speech, he introduced and praised Vice President-elect Mike Pence but didn’t make a single mention of Trump.
While Ryan has sold out and officially supports Trump, despite months of having to distance himself from racist campaign rhetoric and dangerous policy proposals, it’s clear that the GOP speaker doesn’t feel particularly good about having done so. It’s also evident that Trump supporters recognize just how phony Ryan’s support is.
It’s likely that Trump and Ryan will have to work with each other on a number of issues for at least the next four years, but even as the president-elect prepares to take the oath of office next month, it’s obvious that their relationship is in need of major repairs.
