Trump Trusts Russian Operative Assange but Not America’s Intelligence Community

In the continuing saga surrounding the overarching question of whether or not Donald J. Trump is really an American, or a Russian operative, it is getting a little clearer that defector Donald is intricately aligned with Russia and its interests; he has shown absolutely no allegiance to America, its people, or its security interests. He certainly has no allegiance to, or respect for, the American intelligence community (IC) that he praised to high heaven a few short years ago.

But of course that praise from Trump was prior to the IC doing its job and then revealing that a hostile foreign power committed an act of war against the United States of America to put one of its operatives in the White House; something Trump is still mocking the intelligence community for reporting and claimed that when it comes to a dependable and accurate intelligence source, his trust lies with a Russian operative.

For anyone keeping track of Trump’s lies, particularly regarding his “intent” to clarify various abominations concerning his “position” and “excuses” on any number of things, he promised reporters last Saturday that he would hold a press conference for a special Trump revelation on the Russian attack on America. Remember he claimed that, although computers and “the age of computer” make his life complicated, he knows a lot of “things that other people don’t know about hacking,” and that all the “things” he does know would be revealed to the world “on Tuesday or Wednesday.” He added that “And I know a lot about hacking, and I also know things that other people don’t know, and so they cannot be sure of the situation.” The “people” and “they” dunce Donald is talking about are America’s intelligence agencies such as the CIA, FBI, NSA and about 14 others that work day and night to keep America and Americans safe.

Dufus Donald was referring to the 17 American intelligence agencies that do know what they are talking about and he was contradicting their claim that Russia, under the direction of Vladimir Putin, committed an act of war by hacking the DNC and other politicians to assist Trump’s campaign for the White House. Of course, dishonest Don failed to “reveal” anything on Tuesday or Wednesday and instead used 140 characters or less to mock the American intelligence community again.

On Wednesday he took to “the Twitter” to announce that he places his trust in Julian Assange’s Wikileaks when it comes to intelligence on the Russian cyber-attack. Trump cited Assange and claimed that the Russians could not possibly be behind the cyber-attacks because “Julian Assange said a 14 year old could have hacked Podesta, why was DNC so careless. Also said Russians did not give him the info!”

Trump’s “press release via Tweet” was another in a series of attempts to discredit the IC by casting doubt about how the Russian-funded and protected outfit Wikileaks “acquired the hacked emails it used in its effort to discredit Hillary Clinton.” It is noteworthy that there is no doubt whatsoever in the minds of the agents working for the 17 different intelligence agencies about how Wikileaks or Assange got hold of the stolen data or who handed it to them.

Then Trump did what he does best, lied like the pathological liar he really is. He claimed that intelligence officials postponed an intelligence briefing about what he claimed was the “so-called Russian hacking” and said it was because they needed more time to come to a determination on who committed the attack and build a case. Trump’s claim that his briefing was “postponed” was a lie according to intelligence officials who say his “briefing has always been scheduled for Friday,” so his remarks were a very intentional attempt to discredit them. As this column has stated more than once; it is never a good idea to insult the American intelligence community.

Now, as far as Trump’s persistent claims that a teenager or a “400-pound guy sitting in his bed” are responsible for launching an act of war against America is a giant pile of bovine excrement. According to the intelligence people who do “know a lot about hacking;” “Information about the hacker who stole John Podesta’s emails “indicates his or her resume is much more robust than your typical teenager’s.”

To keep his lies going nonstop, Trump also claimed that the DNC was lax in its cyber-security because the hackers were unable to hack into the Republican National Committee’s data; another patently false assertion. The White House and the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) both reported that “the Russians hacked the Republican National Committee’s computer systems in addition to their attacks on Democratic organizations, but did not release whatever information they gleaned from the Republican networks.” It is likely that Trump’s claim about the RNC not being hacked was “intel” handed to him by his Russian comrade Julian Assange.

Look, even Trump’s fellow Republican, House Speaker Paul Ryan, comprehends that of all the malcontents on Earth to hold in high esteem, Julian Assange is not one. Ryan told Hugh Hewitt on the same day Trump was holding up Assange as his most-trusted intelligence source that, “the guy [Assange] is a sycophant for Russia. He leaks, he steals data, and he compromises national security.” Mr. Ryan had better start exercising a little more caution because Trump did say a week or so ago that he appreciates Paul Ryan until he “goes against me.” It is safe to say that contradicting Assange and Trump is easily “going against” dirty Don and the Russians funding Assange’s outfit Wikileaks.

It seems there is no end to deceitful Donald’s lying on everything, but particularly the certainty that Russia was behind the cyber-attack, or as John McCain rightly called it, an act of war against the United States on Donald Trump’s behalf. His steady stream of lies is bad enough, but his explicit and public display of trust in a foreigner, Julian Assange, with very close ties to Russia for his source of intelligence over America’s intelligence community is beyond the pale. It is just another glaring example that Donald Trump’s allegiance is to the foreigners who helped his campaign and not America; it is something the powerful intelligence community will not, if ever, forget and that should worry dirty Don.
