CNN Reporter Stands Up And Challenges Trump At Press Conference For Calling Them Fake News

As Trump was ranting about how it was “fake news” that he has connections and may have been compromised by Russia, CNN’s Jim Acosta stood up and directly challenged the president-elect’s claim that they are fake news. Trump refused to take a question from CNN.

Trump called CNN’s coverage of the story a disgrace and demanded an apology for his lawyer Michael Cohen. Trump said, “Not you. Your organization is terrible.” CNN’s Jim Acosta tried to ask Trump a question, and he said, “No. I am not going to give you a question. You’re fake news.” Acosta tried to stand up and say, “Mr. President-elect, that’s not appropriate.”

Note that Trump called CNN fake news, when Breitbart’s Executive Chairman Stephen Bannon is his White House senior advisor.

Jim Acosta was admirably dogged and determined to be able to follow up after Trump’s attack, as is appropriate in a transparent situation. But Trump wasn’t having any of that.

We’re going to need a lot more Jim Acostas in the next four years to deal with Donald Trump’s fake press conferences.

It might be time for the press to consider acting as one unit when Trump tries this divide and conquer routine, otherwise Trump will continue to play outlets and reporters off of each other until everyone is currying his favor instead of reporting the news.
