Melania Trump’s Rip Off Of Jackie O Is A Sad, Empty Trump Show

For President-elect Donald Trump, all the worlds a stage. He has said Mike Pence looked the part from central casting. And since this is a reality TV show in his mind, his wife Melania showed up today on his inauguration day looking like a Jackie O homage.

CNN’s Betsy Kline tweeted:

Kline also noted:

The problem with dressing as an homage to Jackie O isn’t that other First Ladies like Michelle Obama did it first and perhaps better. The problem is that Jackie O cared deeply about the responsibilities of being First Lady. Jackie O understood the value of art and history rather than shutting down the NEA.

Jackie O devoted her time to commemorating our history in the White House through art, antiques, and more with her famous White House restoration project, “Jacqueline Kennedy began a complete restoration of the White House that captivated the American people and set a standard of scholarship and professionalism that has influenced first ladies ever since.”

In Life Magazine, the refined and well educated Jackie O explained, “Everything in the White House must have a reason for being there. It would be sacrilege merely to redecorate it—a word I hate. It must be restored, and that has nothing to do with decoration. That is a question of scholarship.”

Whereas Melania Trump is not even moving to D.C. to live in the White House. Melania Trump seems to feel no responsibility to this job, but who can blame her as her husband is no role model. Trump will be leaving after the inauguration to go on vacation.

Not because everything is done and he’s earned it. Oh no, everything is not done and there are reports that his team isn’t even reading much of their briefings, and why should they when neither is Donald Trump. “Three State Department officials, though, called the transition there ‘a mess,’ and said that until recently the Trump team had little contact with department officials and read few if any of their briefing books,” Reuters reported.

“A dozen serving officials at four intelligence agencies said they are troubled by Trump’s apparent disdain for their work… and by what some say is the incoming president’s disinterest in the briefings he has received.”

So it’s not all a show. The Jackie O look is lovely, and Melania Trump is a beautiful woman. But the jobs of the First Family require more than looking the part. Donald Trump is trying so hard to look the part and win the approval of the public because deep down, he suspects he is an illegitimate president.

The more Trump feels questioned the harder he’s going to work to fool people with props and costumes. Buckle up, America. There will be no one home in the White House in just an hour or so. Just reality TV show actors playing the parts on camera, and when cut is called, very little presidenting will be done.

Melania Trump is no Jackie O. She is no Michelle Obama. She is no Barbara Bush or Laura Bush and certainly not Hillary Clinton. All of these women understood they had a job to do, not just pictures to pose for. People might say I shouldn’t be hard on Melania because she’s married to Donald Trump and ugh, but she now has the responsibility of being the First Spouse.

Can you imagine if Michelle Obama had cost taxpayers tons of extra money to stay home in Chicago while doing nothing for the job? It’s not enough to “look” the part. The Trumps must actually do the work.
