Obamacare Approval Skyrockets Since Trump Took Office As Repeal Backfires On GOP

Last updated on July 17th, 2023 at 09:54 pm

A new Morning Consult/Politico poll has found that the threat of repeal has made Obamacare more popular than ever since Donald Trump has taken office.

According to the Morning Consult/POLITICO poll:

Obamacare approval jumped to 47 percent in the Jan. 20-22 Morning Consult/POLITICO poll. That’s up six points from our poll at the beginning of January. The law’s disapproval dropped seven points in that time, from 52 percent to 45 percent.

The spike in approval was particularly pronounced among:

Voters who say the country is on the “wrong track” (Approval +13)

Urban Voters (+12)

18-29 year-olds (+11)

Voters who make $50-100K (+11)

There has been a net (+13) point swing in Obamacare’s popularity since Trump became president.

People are not as stupid as Trump and the Republicans thought. Remember, Trump repeatedly said during the campaign that voters don’t care about policies, tax returns, or his own behavior. It turns out that when Trump announced that he was taking away health care coverage from tens of millions of Americans, people did care. They were paying attention, and they are not happy.

Republicans privately admitted last week that there is no Obamacare replacement bill. Instead, they are going to repeal the law and try to patch the holes through executive orders and legislation as needed. A leaked tape revealed that Republicans are running scared over ACA repeal because they know that they are going to own taking access to health care away from millions of people.

Americans don’t want to see the health insurance system gutted. Trump and Congressional Republicans are in deep political trouble, and there is no escape as they are trapped between a promise to repeal Obamacare and the real world reality that people want to keep the ACA.
