Times are hard in the Trump White House right now, and to add to Trump’s disinformation campaign woes, Morning Joe’s Mika Brzezinski has announced that she will no longer book Kellyanne Conway on the show because she doesn’t believe in fake news.
According to Brzezinski,

“At times in recent days Kellyanne Conway has struggled to be on the same page, to say the least, as the rest of the staff in the White House.”
She went on to say that Conway tries to “book herself on these shows” and “I know for a fact she tries to book herself on this show; I won’t do it.â€
“I don’t believe in fake news or information that is not true. That is — every time I’ve ever seen her on television something is askew, off or incorrect.â€
Co-host Joe Scarborough claimed not to believe that Conway is knowingly spreading fake news but rather trying “to prove her relevance.â€
“I don’t even think she’s saying something she knows to be untrue. She’s just saying things just to get in front of the TV to prove her relevance because behind the scenes she’s not in these meetings and any reporter can ask anybody in that White House and they will say the same thing. She’s not in these meetings. So why does the president allow her to keep going out and spreading false information?”
As ever, Scarborough doesn’t want to think the worst of Donald Trump, who is his friend. It was left to Brzezinski to flat-out say Conway is “not credible anymore†and then to lay down the law:
“Kellyanne Conway does not need to text our show, as long as I’m on it. It’s not happening here.â€
This has been a long time coming. Whether Conway is just clueless or like Trump, lying through her teeth, or is just acting as an agent of disinformation, she has no place on news shows. What she spreads are not facts but “alternative facts,” or what the rest of us, Brzezinski included, call “fake news.”
Good riddance. Our mornings just all became brighter, and thank you, Mika Brzezinski.
