One of Donald Trump’s favorite polls shows that his approval rating has tanked by double digits since he took office almost two months ago.
According to the survey released by Rasmussen Reports, Trump’s approval rating now stands at 48 percent, while 52 percent disapprove of his performance. The number is a much better result for Trump than most other polls have shown, but it represents just the third straight day of the Republican-leaning poll showing the president under water.
Not even the Trump-favoring poll can continue masking the new president’s unpopularity.
Overall, as West Ring Reports pointed out this morning on Twitter, Rasmussen’s polling shows that Trump’s support has plummeted by double digits – 11 points – since he was inaugurated in January.
According to RealClearPolitics, the president’s average approval rating now stands at a dismal 44.5 percent, which ranks dead last compared to a dozen of Trump’s predecessors.
No matter what Trump tries to do, whether it’s taking a muted tone and reading complete sentences from a teleprompter or tweeting out paranoid conspiracy theories about his superior predecessor Barack Obama, the American people seem to have settled into their conclusion that Trump just isn’t fit to hold this office.
Not only is this unsurprising given that Trump’s short time in the White House has been defined by constant lies, incompetence, financial conflicts, and a massive Russian scandal – but it also doesn’t bode well for the new administration as they try to gain public support for their agenda, which includes an unpopular religious ban and a repeal of the Affordable Care Act.
New presidents typically use their early months in office to unite the country and use political capital to pass one or two major initiatives. In less than two months, Donald Trump has failed to do any of those things, and the American people are already tuning him out.
