It is being reported that after the firing of Fox News co-President Bill Shine, Sean Hannity is looking to leave Fox and it is being speculated that he could be gone by Friday.
The Daily Beast reported, “Sean Hannity is looking to leave Fox News, according to sources, following the resignation of Fox News co-president Bill Shine officially on Monday…..One insider speculates that the negotiations could end this week and Hannity might be out by Friday. Another said his final show could even be tonight or Tuesday evening, given Shine’s Monday resignation.”
Fox News has denied that there is any truth to the report, but Fox News has issued denials in the past while they worked out the details of previous departures.
There is a growing concern among conservatives that Fox News might be preparing to move in a more “liberal” direction. Given Fox’s total domination of the conservative cable news audience, I would put the odds of that happening at roughly zero. By more liberal, what could be meant is a shift away from the far-right Trump propaganda and more towards a center-right slate of programming.
It would be almost expected that Hannity would seriously think about leaving Fox News after they sent Bill Shine packing. The one reason why Sean Hannity may stick around and ride it out is that there is nowhere else for him to go. CNN and MSNBC wouldn’t want him, and the other fledgling conservative news networks are too small and lack the budget to afford Sean Hannity.
Trump has name dropped Sean Hannity as a friend on a regular basis. Hannity is also rumored to be close to Trump’s sons. Outside of Fox and Friends. Sean Hannity’s show is the most overtly biased for Trump on television.
If Hannity wants to leave, and if Fox isn’t all that interested in keeping him, it easy to see a scenario where Sean Hannity is on the way out at Fox News.
