In his first daily press briefing since Trump returned from his foreign adventure, White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer refused to the answer the question when he was asked if Donald Trump knew about Jared Kushner’s communications with Russia.

Spicer said, “I think that assumes a lot, and I would just say that Mr. Kushner’s attorney has said that Mr. Kushner volunteered to share with Congress what he knows about these meetings, and he will do the same if he is contacted or connected with any other inquiry.”

On follow-up, Spicer added, “I’m not going to get into what the President did or did not discuss, but what your question assumes are a lot of facts that are not substantiated by anything but anonymous sources that are so far being leaked out.”
One wonders if this White House even has a clue.
This morning Donald Trump retweeted a story from Fox News defending Kushner that only contained a single anonymous source:
To summarize the White House’s position according to Spicer:
1). They aren’t going to talk about what Trump knew.
2). The White House is hiding behind Kushner’s lawyer.
3). Anonymous sources are not to be believed unless the anonymous source is defending Kushner and Trump.
We are watching the Russia scandal grow into an inferno that the is consuming the Trump White House.
If Trump didn’t know anything about what Kushner was doing, it would be to his benefit to say exactly that. The fact that the White House is refusing to answer questions about what Trump knew points to a scandal that could reach the Oval Office.
