London Mayor Calls On UK Government To Cancel Trump’s State Visit After Unhinged Tweets

While the entire world community rallies behind London following a series of weekend terror attacks, Donald Trump chose to use the moment to attack the city’s mayor, Sadiq Khan.

Khan, standing up for his city and responding to the unhinged U.S. president’s recent comments, is now urging the UK government to cancel Trump’s upcoming state visit.

Video:

Khan said, “Since Saturday, I’ve been working with the police, with the emergency services, with the government and others, to deal with the horrific attack on Saturday. I just haven’t got the time to respond to tweets from Donald Trump.”

One of the tweets Khan is referring to is this, in which Trump slammed the mayor’s attempt to keep the people of his city calm after the attacks.

Though Khan is clearly too much of an adult to dwell on the childish Twitter ramblings of Trump, he did say that he believes the UK government should cancel Trump’s planned visit:

I don’t think we should be rolling out the red carpet to the President of the USA in the circumstances where his policies go against everything we stand for. I think one of the things when you have a special relationship, it’s no different to when you’ve got a close mate. You stand with them in times of adversity, but you call them out when they’re wrong. And there many things about which Donald Trump is wrong.

The mayor of London is clearly too busy trying to calm his people and prevent further attacks to stoop to Trump’s level, but he also put Trump on notice and let the president know he isn’t afraid to defend his city.

Not only should the world be coming together in support of London after the tragic series of terror attacks, but the UK should not be rewarding the childish U.S. president, as Khan said, by “rolling out the red carpet.”
