Trump White House Social Media Director Busted For Illegal Tweets In Hatch Act Violation

The Trump White House Social Media Director Dan Scavino has been found in violation of the Hatch Act by the Office of Special Counsel because he used his government position to advocate primarying Republican Rep. Justin Amash of Michigan.

“The rules are clear that government officials aren’t allowed to use their position for campaign activity,” CREW Executive Director Noah Bookbinder said. “OSC has made clear with this ruling that they are going to enforce these important rules and work to keep the government free from inappropriate politics.”

This is your daily reminder that the corruption associated with the Trump administration is not limited to Russia. The Trump administration is loaded with people who share their boss’s view of executive power and the Executive Branch, which is that if the president does it, it is legal.

The illegal behavior doesn’t begin and end with the Oval Office. The threat that the Trump administration poses is their view of executive power and how it leads to abuse.
