President Trump is so out of touch with reality that he thinks he can threaten special counsel Robert Mueller into clearing him on the Russia scandal.
The New York Times reported, “That may have been by design, according to a person who spoke to Mr. Trump on Tuesday. The president was pleased by the ambiguity of his position on Mr. Mueller, and thinks the possibility of being fired will focus the veteran prosecutor on delivering what the president desires most: a blanket public exoneration.”
Yeah, that’s not going to work. Robert Mueller isn’t a contestant on The Apprentice. Mueller is a former FBI Director who unlike Trump understands how Washington, D.C works. Trump’s natural impulse appears to lean towards self-destruction and creating the worst situation possible for himself.
The Times reports that Trump was talked out of firing Mueller by his staff, but this isn’t the last that we are probably going to hear about the President trying to fire someone who is investigating him because that is what guilty people do.
Donald Trump is in way over his head, and his presidency looks like it is living on borrowed time.
