Congressional Black Caucus Refuses To Meet With Trump And Be His Publicity Props

The Congressional Black Caucus is expected to decline an invitation to meet with Donald Trump, because the President has done nothing to advance their agenda, and they don’t want to give him a photo-op.

Politico reported, “The Congressional Black Caucus is expected to reject an invitation to meet with President Donald Trump, according to four sources close to the group. The Trump administration, sources said, has done nothing to advance the CBC’s priorities since the group’s executive board first met with Trump in March. And members are worried the request for a caucus-wide meeting would amount to little more than a photo op that the president could use to bolster his standing among African-Americans.”

The Congressional Black Caucus is showing Trump that they aren’t going to play a role in his reality television presidency. The White House strategy appears to be to withhold information from the public as they trot out Trump to make a few scripted remarks and pose for the cameras with assorted guest stars each day.

The CBC wants action, and since Trump has less than zero interest in doing anything to advance their agenda, there is no point to having a meeting with the President. The meeting would look great for Trump, but it would be a waste of time for the Congressional Black Caucus.

If Trump wants a publicity stunt, he can summon Dennis Rodman to brief him at the White House on North Korea. The CBC has no interest in wasting time hanging around the Trump circus.

One can almost see the power of the presidency diminishing each day under the incompetent hand of Donald J. Trump.
