On The Day That The Founding Fathers Declared Our Independence, Trump Is Playing Golf

Trump takes his treatment of the presidency like a part-time job to a new level by leading the country on Independence Day by playing golf.

According to the White House pool report, Trump is spending the day not leading his country, “Motorcade arrived after a quiet trip at Sterling Park Golf Club, aka Trump National Golf Club, at 9:58.”

Via NBC News’s Bradd Jaffy, Trump has now spent 21% of his presidency playing golf:

Later on the 4th of July, Trump will be returning to the White House to participate in the military families picnic and watch fireworks.

Eisenhower was the last president to golf on the 4th of July. Let’s be clear, Trump is no Ike, and comparing the two is an insult to the former president and WWII hero.

Obama held big concerts for military families at the White House. Richard Nixon signed the bill lowering the voting age on a 4th of July. Ronald Reagan watched the space shuttle Columbia land, and George W. Bush made the day about honoring the military and was known to hit the road and give a speech.

The Founding Fathers couldn’t have imagined space shuttles and Kendrick Lamar concerts for military families, but all of the activities that previous modern presidents engaged in were about celebrating the country and the sacrifices that military families make to protect our freedoms.

Golfing for the day, then showing up for a cookout and some fireworks is not close to the standard set by previous recent presidents.

Trump is lazy, and nothing could be a bigger slap in the face to his country that how he is choosing to devote most of the 4th of July to himself.
