Russia Smoking Gun Could Turn Into A WMD As Investigators Dig Into Trump Jr. Meetings

House Intelligence Committee member Rep. Jackie Speier (D-CA) said that she believes meeting with Donald Trump Jr. and the Russians were the tip of the iceberg. Investigators are digging deeper and asking questions about Trump Jr.’s interactions with Russia.

Rep. Speier said, “This in my view, is the tip of the iceberg. How many more meetings were there? That is the question that I think needs to be asked and answered…I believe there was a phone conversation that Donald Trump Jr. probably had with someone before the meeting took place, and then there was clearly a message being sent by the Russians that we want to help your father out. We want to help Trump get elected to the presidency. So was there more interactions that took place? I think those are some of the questions that have to be asked.”

Both the special counsel and Congressional investigators are following threads, which is why a scandal as complicated as the potential Trump collusion with Russia takes so long to investigate. There are a lot of moving parts, and investigators have to determine if all of those pieces worked together towards a common goal of colluding with Russia to win the election.

Trump’s lawyers tried to wall him off from his son in law Jared Kushner. They are also trying to create plausible deniability for this president towards the actions of his son. Since Trump Jr. wasn’t smart about his communications with Russia, the odds are that if there were more meetings, investigators already know, or will find out.

Speier was correct. There probably wasn’t just one meeting with Russia, and the fate of Trump’s presidency may hinge on the question of how many more meetings there were.
