Democratic Rep. Ted Lieu, one of the most outspoken critics of Donald Trump, was back at it again on Wednesday, hitting the president for being weak and having absolutely no respect, both at home or abroad.
In an interview with MSNBC’s Chris Hayes, Lieu teed off on Trump for whining about the new Russia sanctions, saying Moscow is quickly learning what those in the U.S. have known for awhile: This president is weak and has very little influence.

It is very clear the president didn’t want to sign this legislation (imposing sanctions on Russia), and I think the Russians are realizing what Republican members are realizing now, which is we have a weak president. Donald Trump is weak not just because it’s been White House chaos, but also because he has historically low approval ratings and he has very little influence over Republican and Democratic legislators. It’s why he couldn’t even get Obamacare repeal passed, and that’s what we’re seeing now: a weak president with a surging, more confident Congress.
Not only does Russia know that Trump is essentially their puppet, but the president is losing the respect – if he ever had any – and influence of members of Congress on both sides of the aisle. His failure to sign any substantive piece of legislation into law is a testament to that.
And, as the Democratic congressman pointed out, the American people are clearly not impressed by Trump. According to a new Quinnipiac poll released today, voters are actually embarrassed to call Trump president – by a 2 to 1 margin.
Donald Trump may have spent the entire campaign playing the tough guy card, but after six months in the White House, there is not a soul on the planet – Democrat, Republican, ally, or adversary – who takes him seriously.
