Republicans Fully Embrace Racism As 67% Support Trump’s Response To Charlottesville

A new CBS News Poll has found that more than two-thirds of Republicans support Trump’s Charlottesville response where he defended white supremacists and Nazis.

According to the poll, Republicans are way out of step with the rest of the country:

For years, it has been commented on that Republicans are living in their own media bubble, but the partisanship is so strong with the GOP that it has replaced any sense of morality and basic human decency. In his remarks, Trump gave cover to Nazis and white supremacists, and this was just fine with Republicans.

The poll also found Republicans overwhelmingly believe that Trump was correct to blame the left for the violence:

The fact that 68% of Republicans would say that Trump was correct to assign blame to the left shows how deeply embedded racism and bigotry have become within the Republican Party. A large majority of Republicans appear to believe that Democrats are a bigger enemy than racists and bigots. If racists and bigots are willing to support Republicans, the message in this poll is that they are welcome in the GOP.

The people who are standing with Trump are trying to resist an inevitable national demographic change that will leave them as the minority in the United States of America. Ironically, given that Republican voters profile as older, most of them won’t be around to witness the change that they fear so deeply.

The former Party of Lincoln has fully embraced Trump, and with him, they have put out the welcome mat for racists, Nazis, and white supremacists.
