NPR: I want to get back to the question, would you completely rule out questioning the legitimacy of this election if we learn that the Russian interference in the election is even deeper than we know now?

Clinton: No. I would not. I would say —
You’re not going to rule it out.
No, I wouldn’t rule it out.
So what are the means, like, this is totally unprecedented in every way —
What would be the means to challenge it, if you thought it should be challenged?
Basically I don’t believe there are. There are scholars, academics, who have arguments that it would be, but I don’t think they’re on strong ground. But people are making those arguments. I just don’t think we have a mechanism.
If Russia is proven to have interfered in the election, and Hillary Clinton stands up to proclaim that Trump is not a legitimate president, it has the power to plunge the country into a constitutional crisis like we have never seen, while destroying any shred of functionality that might be left in the Trump presidency.
Hillary Clinton’s comments help to explain why Republicans are taking a third desperate try at repealing Obamacare. They explain the frantic push to get tax cuts for the rich passed and signed. Republicans are rushing around like they are on borrowed time because they are waiting for the Russia timebomb to explode and paralyzed Washington. When the Russia scandal goes off, it is going to consume everything. There will be no more legislative activity. Trump will be fighting for his presidency,
Clinton was right. There is no mechanism in the US system for overturning an election. Trump will need to be impeached and removed from office, but before that ever happens, Hillary Clinton could hold the power to kill the Trump presidency once and for all.
