Calling the private citizens heroes who are stepping up, Dr. Agus explained that minutes count in this situation. He explained that when you’re bleeding with a gunshot wound you’re losing blood and once you get past a certain point it’s impossible to turn around. The quicker you can get patients in, the more lives you’re going to save.

At least 50 people were killed and more than 400 injured after gunman Stephen Paddock, 64, opened fire, shooting from the 32nd floor of a hotel before shooting himself, according to police. The gunman is dead.

According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police, at least 406 people were taken to area hospitals with injuries.

“It sounded like fireworks. People were just dropping to the ground. It just kept going on,” said Steve Smith, a 45-year-old visitor from Phoenix, Arizona, told Reuters. “Probably 100 shots at a time. It would sound like it was reloading and then it would go again. People were shot and trying to get out. A lot of people were shot.”

“Tonight has been beyond horrific. I still don’t know what to say but wanted to let everyone know that Me and my Crew are safe. My Thoughts and prayers go out to everyone involved tonight. It hurts my heart that this would happen to anyone who was just coming out to enjoy what should have been a fun night,” country music singer Jason Aldean posted on Instagram.
