Trump praised the Governor for praising him. Trump called on the lone representative for Puerto Rico and Congress, Jenniffer González-Colón, and made her repeat her praise for him.
The event was surreal. It wasn’t a briefing on the damage. It was a pep rally for Trump’s ego. The President went to Puerto Rico on a public relations mission to make it look like his disaster response was a success. For Trump, everything is always about selling. Trump is trying to sell the lack of adequate federal response as a success.
This president has no interest in the people of Puerto Rico and their struggle for survival. Trump doesn’t know what’s going on there, and he doesn’t care. He just wants good pictures and headlines.
The Trump visit to Puerto Rico has been a disgrace because the man who is president cares about nothing, but himself.
