Top Bump Stock Manufacturer To Resume Sales Of Deadly Device After GOP Congress Refuses To Act

Emboldened by a spineless and NRA-owned Republican Party, a leading manufacturer of deadly and totally unnecessary bump stocks plans to resume selling the device that helped Las Vegas shooter Stephen Paddock mow down hundreds of concertgoers last month.

According to the Huffington Post, citing an email from bump stock-producing Slide Fire Solutions, the company happily announced it was ready to start selling the accessory again.

“We would like to take the time to thank all of our customers for their patience and support throughout this past month!” the email read.

The shameful announcement comes exactly one month – yes, just a single month – since gunfire erupted in Las Vegas, taking the lives of 58 people and injuring nearly 500. It was the most deadly mass shooting in American history.

Instead of thinking about those who were killed and the hundreds of survivors whose lives have forever been changed, this company and the Republican Party’s biggest concern appear to be profits and pleasing their donors, respectively, no matter how many lives it puts at risk.

It’s why, back in Washington, what seemed to be an easy and feasible response to the Las Vegas massacre – banning a device that allows semi-automatic guns to fire more than 500 rounds per minute – has essentially died in Congress.

Instead, a new piece of watered-down legislation introduced earlier this week would continue to allow the sale of bump stock devices while adding just a few regulations to the process of purchasing one.

And while Donald Trump and the GOP refused to take immediate action to change America’s lax gun laws in the aftermath of Vegas, saying it was “too soon,” they have no problem jumping to politicize Tuesday’s attack in New York, which took eight lives.

The irony of this was not lost on Democratic Sen. Chris Murphy, who tweeted this earlier today:

Ultimately, the giddy decision by Slide Fire Solutions to resume selling bump stock devices and the continued inaction of Republicans in Congress is about money and political influence – not American lives.

A satisfied gun lobby that keeps raking in the dough means GOP campaign coffers remain full going into next year’s midterm elections. Apparently, everything else is irrelevant.

Meanwhile, the American body count continues to rise with no end in sight.
