Republicans were worried when Roy Moore won their party’s Senate nomination, but it is even worse than they imagined as multiple women had come forward to accuse more of pursuing sex with them when they were as young as 14 years old.
Leigh Corfman said she was 14 years old when Roy Moore, who was 32 at the time had illegal sexual contact with her. According to The Washington Post, she was not alone, “Aside from Corfman, three other women interviewed by The Washington Post in recent weeks say Moore pursued them when they were between the ages of 16 and 18 and he was in his early 30s, episodes they say they found flattering at the time, but troubling as they got older. None of the women say that Moore forced them into any sort of relationship or sexual contact.”
The fact that Donald Trump admitted to sexually assaulting women on tape and Republicans continued to support him means that Roy Moore is unlikely to be hurt with his base of support by these allegations. In response to The Washington Post story, Moore pulled a page straight out of the Trump playbook and began screaming fake news while attacking The Washington Post.
Meanwhile, Moore’s Democratic opponent Doug Jones has a very different history with little girls:

Doug Jones prosecuted the KKK members responsible for Birmingham church bombing, while Roy Moore was trying to seduce junior high and high school girls.
The problem for Moore is that this story didn’t come from the Democratic Party or opposition research. The level of detail in the Post story is an indicator that reporters spent a very long time investigating and interviewing Moore’s accusers.
Alabama Senate polls have Roy Moore leading by 6-8 points, but there are deep reservations among voters about Moore. Democrats have a chance to win in Alabama, but the big message here is that the former party of “family values” has turned into the party of sexual assaulters, pervs, and creeps. Roy Moore is a candidate in the image of Trump’s Republican Party right down to the illegal sexual pursuit of underage girls.
