Republican Congressman Busted After Naked Picture Of Him Turns Up On Social Media

Rep. Joe Barton (R-TX) apologized for a graphic nude photo of himself that has circulated on social media.

The Texas Tribune reported, “While separated from my second wife, prior to the divorce, I had sexual relationships with other mature adult women. Each was consensual. Those relationships have ended. I am sorry I did not use better judgment during those days. I am sorry that I let my constituents down.”

Barton also said that he is deliberating his political future, “You’re as aware of what was posted as I am. I am talking to a number of people, all of whom I have faith in and am deciding how to respond, quite frankly.”

Rep. Barton is the longest-serving member of Congress from Texas and a perfect example of the “family values” beliefs of the Republican Party. The spin came quickly for Barton as he immediately claimed that he had consensual relationships. In other words, Barton was trying to make it clear that he is no Roy Moore.

Unless Republicans force him out, Barton is unlikely to be going anywhere. As the latest Quinnipiac Univesity poll revealed, Republicans care more about agreement on the issues than personal conduct or sexual misdeeds. If Republicans will still vote for a president who sexually assaults women, a congressman who takes pictures of his privates probably won’t be bounced out of office.
