Trump said, “it’s a fantastic bill for the middle class, it’s a fantastic bill for jobs and for companies wanting to bring back massive amounts of money into our country. It’s really — I view it more than anything else, it’s a tremendous bill for jobs and for the middle class. I think people are seeing that more and more, and the more they learn about it, the more popular it becomes.”

There was not a single true statement in anything that Trump said. The tax bill only has a 20% favorability rating. The favorability rating for the legislation has consistently been between 20%-25%. Every single non-partisan analysis of the bill has shown that it isn’t going to spur growth and create jobs.

According to the Tax Policy Center, the majority of American households are going to be worse off under Trump’s “fantastic” tax bill, “Under equal-per-household financing or proportional-to-income financing, not only would the tax cuts continue to be regressive, but the vast majority of American households would actually be worse off, with the tax cuts plus the financing, than they would be if the tax cuts had not occurred.”

Trump is celebrating a bill that is bad for most of America. The President is living in a false reality, and when reality hits him, it is going to hit him hard.
