On Monday, New York Senator Kirsten Gillibrand told CNN that, given the long list of sexual assault and harassment allegations against him, President Trump should resign. Shocking no one, Trump responded early Tuesday morning by attacking Gillibrand on Twitter with an off-the-wall tweet that many are interpreting to have sexual undertones.

Trump proceeded to respond with one of his trademark insult-filled tweets. “Lightweight Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, a total flunky for Chuck Schumer and someone who would come to my office ‘begging’ for campaign contributions not so long ago (and would do anything for them), is now in the ring fighting against Trump,” he wrote. “Very disloyal to Bill & Crooked-USED!”
Many were quick to note that Trump’s description of Gillibrand as “begging” and willing to “do anything” for campaign contributions can be easily interpreted as an insinuation that the senator exchanges sexual favors for political donations.
What is so maddening about the Gillibrand tweet is that women can be smart, work hard, become Senator and STILL get sexual c**p thrown at us. Enough.

President Trump, this morning, insinuating that Senator Kirsten Gillibrand offered him sexual favors in exchange for campaign contributions, is the most disturbing thing I've ever seen him do. Gillibrand stands for everything that's right in America. #WeLoveYouGillibrand

There is NO reason to believe this is anything but another smear by Trump and another attempt to discredit another powerful woman.

Gillibrand responded to the attack shortly after, writing, “You cannot silence me or the millions of women who have gotten off the sidelines to speak out about the unfitness and shame you have brought to the Oval Office.”
Interestingly enough, on Sunday, two male senators, Cory Booker of New Jersey and Jeff Merkley of Oregon, also called on the president to resign. Funny how Trump only attacked the woman who suggested the same.
