Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand Demands Trump Resign Over Sexual Assault Allegations, Trump Responds By Sexually Harassing Her

On Monday, New York Senator Kirsten Gillibrand told CNN that, given the long list of sexual assault and harassment allegations against him, President Trump should resign. Shocking no one, Trump responded early Tuesday morning by attacking Gillibrand on Twitter with an off-the-wall tweet that many are interpreting to have sexual undertones.

“President Trump has committed assault, according to these women, and those are very credible allegations of misconduct and criminal activity, and he should be fully investigated and he should resign,” Gillibrand said in an interview with Christiane Amanpour.
She continued, “These allegations are credible; they are numerous. I’ve heard these women’s testimony, and many of them are heartbreaking, an President Trump should resign his position. Whether he will ever hold himself accountable is something you really can’t hold your breath for, and so Congress should have hearings, they should do their investigation, they should have appropriate investigations of his behavior an hold him accountable.

Trump proceeded to respond with one of his trademark insult-filled tweets. “Lightweight Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, a total flunky for Chuck Schumer and someone who would come to my office ‘begging’ for campaign contributions not so long ago (and would do anything for them), is now in the ring fighting against Trump,” he wrote. “Very disloyal to Bill & Crooked-USED!”

Many were quick to note that Trump’s description of Gillibrand as “begging” and willing to “do anything” for campaign contributions can be easily interpreted as an insinuation that the senator exchanges sexual favors for political donations.

Gillibrand responded to the attack shortly after, writing, “You cannot silence me or the millions of women who have gotten off the sidelines to speak out about the unfitness and shame you have brought to the Oval Office.”

Interestingly enough, on Sunday, two male senators, Cory Booker of New Jersey and Jeff Merkley of Oregon, also called on the president to resign. Funny how Trump only attacked the woman who suggested the same.
