Out Of It Trump Humiliates Himself And Abandons Leadership During Immigration Meeting With Congress

Trump told reporters that his positions would be whatever members of Congress who are negotiating the immigration deal tell him they are.

Video:

Trump said, “I think my positions are going to be what the people in this room come up with. I am very much reliant on the people in this room. I know most of the people on both sides, I have a lot of respect for the people on both sides, and what I approve is going to be very much reliant on what the people in this room come to me with. I have great confidence. If they come to me with things that I’m not in love with, I’m going to do it, because I respect them.”

Trump admitted that he isn’t going to use his own judgment on the issues because he doesn’t have any. The President is going to be a rubber stamp for whatever Congress comes up with. Trump is going to sign off on it, and if it is unpopular, he is going to blame Congress.

The danger for Republicans in the checked out Trump mentality is what will happen if Democrats win control of Congress. Instead of being a strong fighter, is Trump going to sign whatever Democrats send him too?

Donald Trump spelled out his non-governing philosophy for the world to see. He isn’t going to lead or govern. Trump is going to tweet, watch TV, and play golf. Never in modern history has a US president abandoned leadership of the country.

To see a president behave this way is humiliating, and disastrous for the country.
