House Intel Committee Democrat Rep. Jackie Speier Just Destroyed Trump’s No Collusion Russia Defense

Rep. Jackie Speier (D-CA), a member of the House Intelligence Committee investigating the Russia scandal blew apart Trump’s claim that Democrats have said that there is no collusion.

Speier was asked is she knew of any Democrats who have said that there was no collusion between Trump and Russia.

She answered, “I’m afraid I’m going to have to burst the president’s bubble. I don’t think there’s been any Democrat who has said there is no collusion. At different points in the process of interviewing individuals, members might have said I haven’t seen any collusion to date. Collusion is kind of a funny word and I don’t actually like using it. Coordination, cooperation, I think those terms are more reflective of what might have gone on.”

Trump wants to talk about collusion because he knows that collusion is not a crime and difficult to prove. Trump doesn’t want to talk about cooperation, coordination, or any assistance that the Russians provided his campaign. Cooperation, coordination, and accepting help from a foreign power is illegal under federal election law. The cooperation itself is an illegal but the fruits of that illegal activity are also crimes that could range from money laundering to obstruction of justice.

Rep. Speier was right. Trump’s collusion defense is a smokecreen, which she saw through and cut right to the heart of what the White House and thier allies are trying to avoiding discussing. The question isn’t collusion, but how did Russia and Trump coordinate to win, some would say steal, a presidential election?

The answer will determine how much long Trump can survive in office as president.
