Ari Melber Has A Great Point About How Trump’s Ego Will Lead To His Demise

It isn’t Trump’s lack of intellect, but his ego and desire to fight Robert Mueller that will lead to his demise in the Russia scandal.

On MSNBC’s The Beat, Ari Melber said, “There’s times when you can get a witness to incriminate himself by appealing to or taking advantage of their weaknesses. Ego can be a witness. Speak is to that as well as the context of that, which is something we don’t always see. Lawyers and their clients basically shadow boxing over who gets to make this call.”

Former Watergate prosecutor Nick Akerman, “First of all, the real lawyers here is not the lawyers, it’s Donald Trump. Just as you saw with the statement that his son made, the statement that Kushner made, this is all being orchestrated by Donald Trump, he’s calling the shots.”

Akerman brought up a great point. Donald Trump is calling the shots both on his own legal strategy and he is leading the congressional Republican efforts to kill the Russia investigation. Trump may not be intellectually smart, but he is very savvy at evading prosecution, and his strategy has always been simple. He attacks the accusers, attacks the facts, and attacks the investigators all with the intention of diminishing credibility and creating doubt.

The strategy isn’t working in the Russia scandal because Trump doesn’t know what the Special Counsel knows.

Trump has always believed his own hype. He thinks that he can beat Mueller. Trump is fond of claiming that he is the best voice for his White House, but ego that is driving this voice needs to shut up, because his presidency is in peril, and when Trump tries to square off with Mueller it will be the next step in his presidential demise.
