The big news (apparently) is that the trophy first lady is going to show up at her husband’s State Of The Union, but the latest drama surrounding the Trumps’ loveless marriage highlights the hypocrisy of the self-appointed party of family values.

Republicans were never the party of family values. The family values talking point was some fluff to keep the evangelicals in the fold. The Republican Party has never been about passing policies that make it easier for families to stay together and grow stronger. Republicans oppose raising the minimum wage. They also oppose paid family leave. Republicans have always opposed social programs that help families achieve upward mobility.
