Democrats To Turn Blue Wave Into A Tsunami By Targeting Over 100 House GOP Seats

Democrats are competing everywhere and expanding the map by targeting 100 Republican-held House seats.

NBC News reported, “At House Democrats’ annual conference on Thursday, Rep. Ben Ray Lujan of New Mexico, the chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC), is expected to tell colleagues the committee is expanding the battleground to include 101 Republicans — the largest in a decade, a Democratic source familiar with the matter told NBC News. The seven new targets push Democrats even deeper into Republican territory in South Carolina, Wisconsin and Texas. And they include the Ohio seat held by the man charged with defending the GOP’s majority, Rep. Steve Stivers, chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee.”

Democrats have money, candidates, and momentum

The expanded map is a reflection of how many pieces are coming together for Democrats. The momentum is on the Democratic side, but momentum doesn’t mean anything without fundraising and candidate recruitment. Democrats have recruited a slate of excellent candidates across the country, and they have been able to back those candidates with resources.

It isn’t enough to have a president as unpopular as Trump to run against. For years, the complaint from Democrats has been that they set the bar too low. The party wasn’t competitive everywhere. In 2018, Democrats are competing everywhere. They will not flip 100 Republican House, but if they flip 24, they control the House. What this new strategy suggests is that Democrats aren’t happy with taking back the House. They want to take back the House with a massive majority.
