While speaking from the White House, Trump said that Rob Porter is very sad that he was fired for beating his ex-wives and the President Of The United States made it clear that he thinks Porter is innocent and the women are lying.

Trump said, “Well, we wish him well. He worked very hard. I found out about it recently, and I was surprised by it. But we certainly wish him well. It’s a — obviously, tough time for him. He did a very good job when he was in the white house. And we hope he has a wonderful career and hopefully he will have a great career ahead of him, but it was very sad when we heard about it and certainly he’s also very sad. Now he also, as you probably know, he says he’s innocent. And I think you have to remember that. He said very strongly yesterday that he’s innocent. So you’ll have to talk to him about that. But we absolutely wish him well. Did a very good job while he was at the White House.”

Trump’s words make it clear that he did not want to fire Rob Porter. There was no strong statement from Trump condemning domestic violence. Trump didn’t say that Porter had to go. What Trump said was that he was sad that Rob Porter was fired, and that Rob Porter was sad over being fired, and that Rob Porter said that he is innocent, which in Trump’s view, means that he is innocent.
There is no doubt now that the White House knew about Porter’s crimes against women and not only kept employing him, but they also promoted him. There was only one way that this story could have gotten worse for the White House and that was if Donald Trump defended Rob Porter.
Trump just defended Porter, and a scandal that the White House desperately wants to go away just had a can of gas poured on it, and the match lit, thanks to sexual predator Donald Trump.
