Trump’s Inaugural Committee Gave $26 Million To Melania’s Advisor Instead Of Donating It To Charity

The Trumps are using the presidency to line the pockets of their friends, as Donald Trump’s inaugural committee gave nearly a quarter of all the money that they raised to an event planning friend of Melania Trump.

The New York Times reported, “President Trump’s inaugural committee paid nearly $26 million to an event planning firm started by an adviser to the first lady, Melania Trump, while donating $5 million — less than expected — to charity, according to tax filings released on Thursday. The nonprofit group that oversaw Mr. Trump’s inauguration and surrounding events in January 2017, the 58th Presidential Inaugural Committee, had been under pressure from liberal government watchdog groups to reveal how it spent the record $107 million it had raised from wealthy donors and corporations.”

Corruption is a Trump family business

The Trumps have all used the platform of the presidency for personal enrichment, so it doesn’t come as a surprise that a president who is famous for not following through with his commitments to charity would have an inaugural committee that would give such a meager sum to charity. This is graft and abuse of public office at its worst.

There is no way that a friend of the first lady should be getting $26 million for planning events. The committee also spent $1.75 million decorating the White House and the vice president’s residence, because apparently getting Mike Pence a new kitchen table was more important than donating funds to charity.
