The majority of the remarks consisted of POTUS praising law enforcement and first responders for their response to the school shooting, and officials praising the president for showing support.
Here was one of the few instances from the meeting when POTUS addressed victims’ families. The partial quote included in past report, but here’s the full one:
“I’ll tell you who appreciates it, too, is the parents. Because I was at the hospital with the parents and they are very thankful for the job. They’re in really great shape considering most people would not have been. They are really thankful.”
Trump used his visit to Florida to praise the FBI (the same FBI he spends his days attacking, by the way) and first responders and getting praise for himself. He barely had a thought for the parents of victims.
It’s actually repulsive to watch.
On the day Mueller dropped an indictment against 13 Russians and 3 Russian organizations and Donald Trump has done nothing to enforce sanctions against Russia, it takes a lot to say this: Aside from Trump’s ignoring of Russian attacks on the United States, Donald Trump isn’t fit to lead this country because of the way he handles tragedy. The same man who praised the “good people” – white supremacists- in Charlottesville after one of them murdered a woman, today spend his time in Florida getting praise and playing Big Man on Campus.
The parents of the victims of the mass shooting in Florida are not in “really great shape.” That is outrageous.
