Parkland survivor David Hogg thanked right-wing conspiracy theorists for attacking him and his classmates, saying the onslaught has only brought more attention to their cause.
In an interview with MSNBC’s Joy Reid, Hogg said the crackpots floating tinfoil hat conspiracy theories are doing him and his friends a favor and giving their movement “great advertising.”

When Reid pointed out that gun nuts were smearing him as a “crisis actor,” Hogg responded:
Honestly, they’ve been doing a great job. It’s been great advertising for me. I’ve quadrupled my Twitter following as a result. … I got so many more press people covering me and covering this event. They’re helping people not forget about this, and for that I actually thank them.
As the outspoken Parkland survivor said in the interview, nobody is buying into these right-wing conspiracy theories. They have not slowed down these survivors. If anything, they have given more fuel to their cause and put even more attention on America’s gun problem.
These young Americans have given new energy to this cause. They’re going to make sure the American people and lawmakers don’t forget what happened in their city. They are articulate, brave and have no intention of backing down.
It’s no surprise that the backlash among right-wing gun nuts has been so fierce. For the first time in a long time, the gun lobby may have met its match, and they’re terrified.
