GOP House Intel Committee Member Breaks With His Own Party On Trump/Russia Investigation Conclusions.

With all apologies to earnest, “sounds great on the JBL speakers in the Volvo” rock band Rooney, the question must be asked: “When did your heart go missin’, GOP?”

Video:

Speaking to CNN’s Erin Burnett today, House Intelligence Committee member Representative Tom Rooney (R-FL) had to concede that the panel has “lost all credibility” after gamely trying to avoid admitting whether he accepted the panel’s conclusions or not.

This, of course, after said Republican-lead panel released a draft report that not only maintains that there’s no evidence of collusion between Russia and Donald Trump’s campaign (there is), but that the intelligence community got their assessment wrong about Russia interfering in our election with the intent of hurting Hillary Clinton, and helping Donald Trump (they didn’t).

Erin Burnett asked him “Why would you end the investigation now? It sounds like there’s disagreement between Republicans on your committee… why are you all ending it?â€

“Two things: From what I said last week is we have gone off the rails and now we’re a political forum for people to leak information to drive the day’s news. We have lost all credibility and we’re going to issue probably two different reports.â€

Because that’s what bipartisan investigative committees do – they release two different reports at the conclusion of their investigation. Said no one ever.

Meanwhile, to the surprise of no one, Trump tweeted this (all caps his):

THE HOUSE INTELLIGENCE COMMITTEE HAS, AFTER A 14 MONTH LONG IN-DEPTH INVESTIGATION, FOUND NO EVIDENCE OF COLLUSION OR COORDINATION BETWEEN THE TRUMP CAMPAIGN AND RUSSIA TO INFLUENCE THE 2016 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION.

What a relief! Clearly all of his troubles are behind him.
