John Oliver stuck a blow against Vice President Mike Pence’s anti-gay extremism by turning his pet rabbit Marlon Bundo gay in a new kids book.
Oliver ran down Pence’s long history of extremism and hatred toward the LGBT community, but it all took a turn when the topic moved to Pence’s pet rabbit Marlon Bundo.

Oliver said, “But unfortunately, one of the stops on that book tour is at Focus on the fu*king Family. So congratulations, Pence. You even managed to ruin Marlon Bundo. Now none of us can enjoy a book about your rabbit. Or can we? Because it turns out, in a complete coincidence, we also wrote a book about Mike pence’s rabbit that has been published. In fact, while his is out tomorrow, ours is released right now. Now, there are a few small differences between the two books. You’ll notice right away that our rabbit has a bow tie. So there’s that. Also, our story is about Marlon Bundo falling in love with another boy rabbit, because our Marlon Bundo is gay, just like the real Marlon Bundo. The point is, you can actually buy this book, starting right now at Amazon and at betterbundobook.com, which should be easy enough to do you want the regular Bundo book or the better Bundo book? It’s at betterbundobook.com. All of our proceeds from this going to the Trevor Project, which provides crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to LGBTQ youth, and AIDS United, which works to end the AIDS epidemic in the United States. So those are two great reasons to buy this book. Another is that selling more books than pence will probably really piss him off. So that’s three great reasons. You can also buy an audiobook at Audible.com featuring Jim Parsons, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Jeff Garlin, Ellie Kemper, John Lithgow, Jack Mcbrayer, and RuPaul. And that may be completely clear about this. This is actually a book for children. This is a real book for children. This isn’t some adult book telling Mike pence to go f*ck himself, although in buying it, that’s exactly what you would be doing. This is a sweet story about Marlon Bundo falling in love.”
The children’s book is brilliantly subversive idea to strike a blow against the homophobia and discrimination that is occupying the vice presidency of this country, and buying the book will not only stick a thumb in the eye of Pence, and his anti-gay cult, it will also do a lot of good for some great causes.
Only John Oliver and his staff would turn Mike Pence’s rabbit gay to strike a blow against discrimination.
The term resistance gets used a lot under Trump, but what we are seeing is a movement that has grown beyond resistance and into the sort of collective action that people like Barack Obama dreamed of. America isn’t dead under Trump. It is showing who it really is one Marlon Bundo book at a time.
