Laura Ingraham Goes Into Hiding After Advertisers Drop Her Show

Embattled Fox News host Laura Ingraham announced on her show Friday night that she was taking a break from her show, the Ingraham Angle.

She said it was because of Easter, but that seems a bit too coincidental to be completely true.

Before the show started Friday almost all of her sponsors had decided to abandon her.  Her mean-spirited attacks on a 17 year-old survivor of the Parkland massacre have turned her radioactive, and for good reason.

She personifies all that is bad about gun rights activists, the right wing, and Fox News.

We can only hope that her break will last longer than one week. Maybe she’ll take a permanent vacation and make the world a better place.

On Wednesday Ingraham sent out a nasty tweet mocking David Hogg a prominent survivor of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting.  Her tweet linked to a report saying Hogg had been rejected from four colleges where he had applied, and it also said Hogg “whines about” the rejections.

In response to Ingraham’s nastiness, Hogg posted on twitter a list of Ingraham’s advertisers which he got from the website Media Matters, and urged his 500,000 plus followers to boycott them. And it worked. At least 14 of her show’s sponsors have dumped the show.

On Friday only one major advertiser had commercials during the show — IBM.  The rest of the time was filled with Fox News promos or ads from companies you never heard of.

Ingraham had apologized on Thursday saying she was sorry “for any upset or hurt my tweet caused him or any of the brave victims of Parkland.” Hogg said he would not accept her apology, saying it only came about after sponsors dropped her show, and it wasn’t sincere.

Her Friday announcement was similar to what happened last April when Bill O’Reilly announced a pre-planned vacation just before Easter weekend.  He was embroiled in a major controversy at the time, as his sponsors were dropping him after a report detailing many accusations of sexual harassment levied against O’Reilly. He never returned to the air, and was fired eight days later.

Nobody expects Ingraham to stay off the air permanently, but you can bet she’ll have second thoughts in the future before she attacks innocent children who have the courage to stand up for their beliefs.
