Trump Says He’s Sending Soldiers To The Mexico Border ‘Until We Can Have A Wall’

Speaking to reporters at the White House on Tuesday, President Trump said he’d be sending the military to guard the U.S.-Mexico border until he can get his long-promised wall.

“Until we can have a wall and proper security, we are going to be guarding our border with the military,” he said. “That’s a big step.â€

This is the latest instance of Trump escalating the rhetoric on immigration. On Easter, he went on another Twitter rant, once again blaming Democrats for DACA still not being re-implemented and raging about border security.

“Border Patrol Agents are not allowed to properly do their job at the Border because of ridiculous liberal (Democrat) laws like Catch & Release,” he wrote. “Getting more dangerous. ‘Caravans’ coming. Republicans must go to Nuclear Option to pass tough laws NOW. NO MORE DACA DEAL!”

He continued, “These big flows of people are all trying to take advantage of DACA. They want in on the act!”

On Tuesday, he again blamed Democrats for the end of DACA, despite the fact that he’s the person who ended the program in the first place. DACA is the Obama-era program that provided undocumented immigrants who were brought to the U.S. as children with temporary work permits, the ability to pursue college educations, and protection from deportation.

“DACA is dead because the Democrats didn’t care or act, and now everyone wants to get onto the DACA bandwagon… No longer works,” he wrote. “Must build Wall and secure our borders with proper Border legislation. Democrats want No Borders, hence drugs and crime!”

Trump’s recent rants are have been triggered by his failure to secure funding for his wall, and the need to deliver on the campaign promises he made to his base is increasing. It remains to be seen if this new promise of sending the army to the border will happen. If his track  record his anything to go by, it likely won’t.
