Profile in courage Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) told CNN’s Kate Bolduan this morning that “the bottom line is I’m not worried about Trump firing Mueller, because I think he’s smarter than that.”
This assessment doesn’t just fly in the face of reason, but in the face of legislation Graham himself co-sponsored with Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ) that would require the attorney general to seek extensive judicial review before firing the special prosecutor. Surprise! That bill’s stalled in committee!
One almost forgets the halcyon (well, comparatively at least) days of February 2016, when someone who looks an awful lot like Lindsey Graham said of Donald Trump things like: “I think he’s a kook. I think he’s crazy. I think he’s unfit for office.”

Bald-faced hypocrisy aside, it should be noted that exactly no one is breathing a sigh of relief over the fact that one spineless US Senator is certain that Donald Trump -the man who once exclaimed that “It’s freezing and snowing in New York – we need global warming!”- is “smart enough” not to fire the special prosecutor he periodically threatens to fire. No one in the White House. No one in Congress. Certainly no one in Syria… because if Trump were smarter, he’d wag the dog.
