The White House has announced that Trump won’t be attending the Summit of the Americans, but instead will stay home and “oversee the Syria response” which is White House speak for watching Fox News.
Sarah Huckabee Sanders said in a statement provided to PoliticusUSA, “President Trump will not attend the 8th Summit of the Americas in Lima, Peru or travel to Bogota, Colombia as originally scheduled. At the President’s request, the Vice President will travel in his stead. The President will remain in the United States to oversee the American response to Syria and to monitor developments around the world.â€
Trump is using Syria to hide from the press
Like any summit, the Summit of the Americans contains multiple press events. At these press events, Trump will be asked questions about the raid on Michael Cohen, the Russia scandal, and Stormy Daniels. Since Trump can’t be trusted to keep his mouth shut, as evidenced by his public comments that probably got Cohen raided, the White House has no choice, but to lock Trump in his room with Fox News on the television.
Trump also hates to travel and attend international events. He wants to stay in his own properties and gets exhausted and cranky when he goes abroad. We will soon find out that Trump has probably been holding his breath and stomping his feet to get out of going on this trip.

It has also become common knowledge that when the White House states that Trump is monitoring or overseeing something, it means that he is on the telephone to his friends and watching Fox News. Trump is using the chemical attack in Syria to avoid the press by staying in his room and watching Fox News.
Donald Trump isn’t leading. He is hiding out, watching Fox and tweeting. Russia, not Syria is the reason why Trump is blowing off the Summit of the Americas.
