Chris Matthews Trashes Trump For Sharing Plans To Bomb Syria Over Twitter

Chris Matthews blasted Donald Trump on Wednesday for doing something he attacked his critics for doing during the campaign – sharing military intervention plans.

“What happened to Trump’s promise not to telegraph his plans?” Matthews said on MSNBC’s Hardball. “What happened to his promise not to start stupid wars?”

Matthews trashed Trump:

Trump has managed to make an already delicate situation in Syria even scarier. He’s now taunting Russia, telling them we’ve got fancier, smarter missiles than he’s got. What happened to Trump’s promise not to telegraph his plans? What happened to his promise not to start stupid wars?

Trump doesn’t know what the hell he’s doing

These two promises – not sharing military plans and avoiding unnecessary war – were key to Trump’s 2016 campaign. He repeatedly hammered Hillary Clinton for discussing her detailed foreign policy plans and her willingness to take military action when necessary.

With Trump’s first 2017 bombing of an empty airfield in Syria combined with today’s promise that more missiles “will be coming,” it’s clear he had no intention of keeping these campaign pledges.

Trump’s inability to keep these key foreign policy promises is likely the result of the fact that, of all issues that face a given president, he is least equipped to deal with international affairs.

Trump isn’t just uninformed and ignorant of the world he’s now leading, but he’s also dangerously reckless and easily provoked. The icing on the cake: Trump needs a distraction from the increasingly explosive Mueller investigation.

It’s no surprise that, like his presidency, his promises to avoid stupid wars and not share his secret military plans have gone up in flames.
