Trump Embarrasses America In Front Of Japanese PM With Russia Tantrum: ‘This Is A Hoax’

Donald Trump once again threw a tantrum about the ongoing Russia investigation, this time in front of Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

During the joint press conference with Abe, Trump took aim at Robert Mueller’s probe, calling it “bad for America” and expressing his hope that it will be “done with” soon.

Trump said:

This is a hoax. As far as the investigation, nobody has ever been more transparent than – I have instructed our lawyers be totally transparent. I believe we’ve given them 1.4 million pages of documents, if you can believe this. And haven’t used that I know of or for the most part, presidential powers or privilege. So we are hopefully coming to the end. It is a bad thing for our country, very bad thing for our country, but there has been no collusion. They won’t find any collusion. It doesn’t exist. As far as the two gentlemen you told me about (Rosenstein and Mueller), they’ve been saying I’m going to get rid of them for the last three months, four months, five months and they’re still here. So we want to get the investigation over with, done with, put it behind us and we have to get back to business with negotiating with this gentleman and plenty of others but this gentleman is a very tough negotiator and we have to focus on that.

The Russia investigation is not a hoax

When Trump repeats the line that Robert Mueller’s investigation is a hoax, one gets the sense that he’s doing so to convince and sooth himself – not anybody else.

After all, outside of the small faction of America that has sheltered itself inside the Fox News bubble, most of the country trusts Mueller and wants to see the investigation carried out thoroughly.

Trump’s “hoax” line dies a little more each day as a growing number of people in the president’s inner circle find themselves in increasing legal jeopardy – Michael Cohen being the latest example.

Donald Trump’s tantrums might muddy the waters and convince enough people to stand with him, but they won’t matter when all is said and done.

The Robert Mueller–FBI train has left the station and it’s coming straight for the president.
